Step One - Aldose to Ketose Isomerisation of Glucose

That's not a bad idea.

The isomerisation makes fructose which, unlike glucose, can be split into equal halves when subjected to aldol cleavage. However, in glycolysis glucose is phosphorylated first. One reason for this is that it puts an irreversible step at the start of the pathway which can be a good control point. Go back and phosphorylate.
